Rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is a tropical tree that can be used as a houseplant. This plant can adjust from low to high sunlight situations and prefers a humid environment. It has many varieties in color like burgundy, creamy yellow and green as well. The best part is that it can be easily propagated from its cuttings and hence makes for a great and inexpensive houseplant. The rubber plant looks excellent once it gains height and potted in a large planter. Its shiny leaves are lovely to look at, and it can be made bushier by snipping its top buds once in a while.

Pothos or money plant is another tropical beauty typically found indoors. They have many names, but they are also called Devil’s ivy because they can grow even when kept in the dark. They can go without or little sunlight for days and need some water weekly or daily depending on the environment. They look great on top shelves in the kitchen or bookshelves. I love to hang them using macrame planters and use the cuttings to propagate and make the plant look more dense and bushy.

Snake plants or Mother-in-laws tongue is a fabulous decorative indoor plant. First, it needs little or no water as it falls in the succulent family. Second, it requires little sunlight. Third, it grows pretty tall and acts as an excellent filler for the corners of your rooms and helps purify indoor air. A plant that is low on maintenance and packed with benefits both decorative & for your environment.

Aloe Vera, this plant needs no introduction as it is one of the most beneficial and aesthetically appealing houseplants to be included in your collection. In the last few decades, it has become even more famous for its medicinal qualities and for its use in skin care products. It is a beautiful addition to any room. I like to add Aloe Vera in a very colorful planter on my kitchen or bedroom windowsill and enjoy its view every morning.
